Python Meetup April in Hackerspacekl

April 17, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Sorry for failing to post on this blog. Hackerspacekl is going to host a python meetup this weekend!!!

This is python monthly meetup. This time we going to have it in here. This time we going to have a free flow event.

We will start with a talk, to be confirmed. Then a series of knowledge sharing, not limited to talk, and show and tell of your project done in python.

Talk that we have confirmed is

  • Dexterity on Plone by either kagesenshi / kaeru
  • Using elasticsearch with python by yours truly
  • Django related topic by renyi

If you drive I recommend that you share a car, if on public transport, take a LRT to Taman Bahagia, and that Bus 626 to uptown, or take a taxi from there.

House rules applies, non members can’t use the soldering iron or the components. But they can use the room. But we are python meetup, so we definitely not going to need that.

The event detail is in http://www.eventbrite.com/event/3194836843

Hacking the Grant System for Fun & Profit

August 6, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Hacking the Grant System talk by Dinesh Nair (@alphaque) & Chris Leong from Cradle.

“Grants are funds disbursed by one party (Grant Makers), often a Government Department, Corporation, Foundation or Trust, to a recipient, often (but not always) a nonprofit entity, educational institution, business or an individual. In order to receive a grant, some form of “Grant Writing” often referred to as either a proposal or an application is usually required.”

Taken from wikipedia.org

A special session about the grant system in Malaysia & using it for profit as proposed by @alphaque and @spoonfork as a result from this tweet followed by this and other subsequent tweets after that.

Dinesh Nair a.k.a @alphaque from alpahque.com, will be speaking on just the general difference between grants, funding, preseed, mezzanine and others.

Chris Leong from Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd , will be speaking on pre-seed funding (up to RM150K) for early stage projects. Perfect for individuals who may want to commercialize their business ideas and requiring initial funding.

Cradle Investment Programme (CIP) is a fund provider managed by Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance (MOF). CIP funds groups of innovative individuals and researchers with technology-oriented ideas and transforms their raw ideas (pre-seed funding level) into commercially viable ventures. More details on CIP available here.

This event is Free and open to members of the public. Please fill the sign up form if you are interested to attend.
