A few weeks ago as i was browsing eBay i came across this item. It was a 12/24V DC to 110V AC Inverter (5W). Seeing that it was only around RM10, i bought one to rip apart and see its inner workings.

Project : Making benchtop powersupplies from old PSUs

So me and spoonfork have decided to start a small project for the space. We’re gonna convert some old PSU’s i have into benchtop supplies to keep at the hackerspace. We plan to take afew months and slowly work on the 9 supplies that we have. That is the plan!!!!

HSKL is looking for a new place to call home!!

After almost 2 years at our current location in Uptown, the family at HSKL have decided that its time to move to a new place where it would be more accessible to a wider group of people. Below are some of the criteria we are looking for when choosing the new location.
- Walking distance from an LRT station
- A house would be preferred
- @ RM1300 or below
- Accessible to some makan places
- Tentative date for moving – Jan 2012
If you know anything that fits the bill, please let us know!!!.

This buildlog I’ll talk about the electronics which will drive the CNC. I did a lot of searching on ebay as well as CNCZone and have found that the most common controllers use the Parallel port as a means of communication. I was hoping the controllers would use USB but alas to add USB support to the controllers directly = spending more money. Adding a parallel port however is a cheaper alternative. Read more
