Governance Structure
The HackerspaceKL is organised as a not-for-profit society in Malaysia and as such, will have responsibilities under the Societies Act 1966 to ensure the activities of the Hackerspace are lawful and in accordance with the Federal and State Constitutions.
Overseeing the day-to-day running and the development of the Hackerspace is the responsibility of the Governance Committee which is comprised in the following structure.
With the exception of the Permanent Committee Members (which is reserved for the original founders of the Hackerspace), members of the committee are elected at the Annual General Meeting and serve for a 12 month period.
Current Office Holders:
President – Mun Kok Ming (Known as ‘Kakeman’)
Vice President – Leong Seng Chin (Known as ‘Tinker’)
Secretary – Amin Hamid
Treasurer – Niresh Singh
Committee Members: Jordan Lou, Adam Giles, Moo Kok Leong, Tracey Wong
Permanent Committee Members: Earl Marcus Tan, Meling Mudin, Mun Kok Ming
Governance of the society is documented in the HackerspaceKL Constitution, and in addition, other major responsibilities of the committee include:
- Monitoring the number of members and maintaining the membership list
- New member recruitment and collection of membership dues
- Monitoring the financial health of the society
- Publishing accounts and documentation relating to the running of the society.
