KLKS CNC BuildLog 05 – Buying Wood & Aluminium
This weeks blog post will be on buying Wood and Aluminum.
So not knowing where to even start, i took at chance and went down to Jalan Klang Lama. I knew a good hardware shop there which may have what i wanted. Unfortunately they only sold plywood which was not what i wanted to build the CNC out of but the good chaps there told me there was a wood mill down the corner form them. JM Timber told me they had the wood in the specifications i wanted but they did all cutting manually and not computer guided. What this means is that i would get the size “more-or-less” so things like 7/8 in would be close to it but not quite there. They also gave me the wood called Resak.
Since i didnt know where else to buy wood, i decided why not. So i gave them the measurements and within 45 mins everything was done. 22 pieces of lumber and it cost RM100. As for the aluminum, i found another shop (Alaluminum shops are pretty common) which was close to the timber mill which sold me the L joints for RM10.
Total time spent :- 1 Day
Total $ spent : RM110
