UNIX-g33kz Session 3 is canceled 26/2/2011

I would like to apologize  for the last minute notification, but the session for tomorrow is canceled as our speaker is suddenly unable to be present tomorrow due to sudden illness.

UPDATE: The event calendar has been updated to reflect this cancellation. Also please bring a RJ-45 network cable for the next session as we will be doing a hands-on the BIND configuration using our network switches and a FreeBSD server.

Electronics Friday 25/02/2011

Our weekly Electronics Fridays meetup is on from 8:00pm – 11pm, 28th January 2011.

What?

  • Weekly get-together to solder, wire, design, etch, and make electronics stuff.
  • Learn new skills
  • Make a project
  • Show, tell and get help (bring your project – advance or simple, it don’t matter)

When?
We are usually open as early as 4pm, with a break for dinner at around 7-8pm. And continue on till 10:30 or 11pm. If you want to come earlier, the best time is usually around 6:30 (before we go off for dinner)

Where?
Hackerspace KL

Who?
Everyone is welcome! Even if you are not a member and you want to check out what HackerspaceKL is about, feel free to come.

Cost?
Free for members. Non-members however, cannot use any of our equipments (to be fair, they are paid by the members). Non-members can buy the electronics components from us. We have stuff to sell to – QuarterK, and Seeeduino.

UNIX-g33ks III starts today.

A slight amendment to the previous schedule, today’s session will be introductory in nature as we are finalizing the participant numbers, collecting registration fees  and the materials for distribution. The calender will be updated to reflect this change and it will be a full 9 sessions, including the session today.

We will be distributing the VM image and helping participants to setup the machine to allow us to progress quickly into the series. Members of the public who are still interested to attend are invited to do so. This session is FREE for HackerspaceKL members and the public alike. A registration form for walk in participants will be made available soon.

FOSS Linux Distro Workshop in pictures

Hackerspacekl and osdc.my hosted a Linux Distribution Workshop, for the local FOSS community to meet and discuss on Malaysian contribution to the linux distribution of their choice.

This workshop involves participants from:

  • Debian Malaysia
  • openSuse

  • Sabily
  • members of OSDC.my
  • members of hackerspacekl

The topic discuss involved l10n and i18n, distro infrastructures, current project on their distro, mirroring initiative. The meetup is mostly on sharing about the participant sharing bits of information regarding their distro of choice.

FOSS Distro Workshop

A workshop bringing together the local FOSS developers and community organized by OSDC.my. This is the first such gathering of local FOSS developers who are directly involved in their own distro.
Amongst the attendees expected to come are:-

Everyone is invited, especially those who are interested in contributing / developing for the local FOSS distros.

Cost?

Free for members. We’re all about keeping knowledge free, but in the real world that we live in, everything requires money. Hence non-members are required a minimum donation of RM15. Your donation will be used for the upkeep of the space.
